Liam Hauser developed a strong interest in rugby league and cricket during his primary school days, and has supported and read about those two sports ever since. Liam’s book releases include State of Origin 30 Years (Rockpool Publishing, 2010), State of Origin 35 Years (Rockpool Publishing, 2015); A Century of Cricket Tests (2013); A History of Test Cricket (2016); The Great Grand Finals: Rugby League’s Greatest Contests (2017, revised 2019); and The Immortals of Australian Cricket (Rockpool Publishing, 2018).
While rugby league and cricket have been Liam’s main sporting interests, he has also written about many other sports including touch football, oztag, rugby union, soccer, gymnastics, campdrafting, equestrian, tennis, bowls, boxing, hockey, golf, swimming, rifle shooting, archery and horse racing. He has worked as a sports journalist in regional Queensland and NSW, for newspapers including the South Burnett Times, Tumut and Adelong Times, Gundagai Independent, Namoi Valley Independent, and Northern Daily Leader. He has also been interviewed on radio many times, particularly as an expert on State of Origin rugby league.
